Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Layout, Inc. ("Layout," "we," "us") collects, uses, and protects personal data when you use the Layout software, application programming interfaces, agentic ordering tools, connectors, and related services (the "Software"). It applies to Integrators that build on Layout and to End Users who place orders or initiate purchases through an AI assistant or other interface powered by Layout. By using the Software, you agree to this Policy.

Who We Are

Layout, Inc. provides software that lets AI assistants and other applications place real orders and complete purchases at participating merchants. Layout is legally organized from Roseville, California. Contact us at legal@layout.link.

Information We Collect

We collect information needed to operate the Software and complete orders. This may include your name, email address, phone number, and order or transaction details such as items, merchant, location, and timing. When a purchase is made, payment card information is tokenized by our payment provider; we receive only a tokenized reference and do not store or log raw card data. For Integrators, we collect account, authentication, and billing information. We also collect technical and usage data such as logs, device and connection information, and how the Software is accessed.

How We Use Information

We use personal data to provide and operate the Software; build and complete orders and purchases on your behalf; generate amount-limited virtual cards for transactions; send transactional messages such as order status updates by text or email; secure the Software and prevent fraud; provide support; meet legal obligations; and improve and maintain the Software.

Analytics

We use analytics to understand how the Software is used and to improve it. Our analytics are not tied to individual user identities and are used in an aggregated or de-identified form.

Transactional Messages

We may send you text messages or emails about the status of your orders, such as confirmations and pickup or preparation updates. These are transactional messages tied to your use of the Software. We do not currently send marketing or promotional messages.

Sponsored Placement

In the future, participating merchants may pay to have their listings appear more prominently in search or browsing results. Any such sponsored placement is a paid arrangement with the merchant and does not involve selling your personal data. Sponsored placement is bypassed for users on the paid monthly subscription, which is not yet released.

How We Share Information

We share personal data only as needed to operate the Software. This includes sharing with participating merchants to fulfill your orders; with service providers that support the Software, including Amazon Web Services for hosting and database infrastructure and Basis Theory for payment tokenization and virtual card generation; and with third-party AI platforms you choose to use to access Layout, which operate under their own terms and privacy policies. We may also disclose information where required by law or to protect our rights, users, or the security of the Software. We do not sell or share your personal data for advertising or cross-context behavioral advertising purposes.

Third-Party AI Platforms

You typically access Layout through a third-party AI assistant or application such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or Grok. These platforms are independent and are not owned or controlled by Layout. Information you provide to those platforms is governed by their own privacy policies, not this one.

Data Retention

We keep personal data for as long as needed to provide the Software, complete and support orders, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. We may keep limited data in routine backups for a limited period. When data is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.

Security

We use appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect personal data, including encryption in transit and at rest where appropriate, access controls, and payment infrastructure that is PCI DSS Level 1 compliant. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. California residents have rights under the CCPA, including the right to know, the right to delete, the right to correct, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share personal data, so there is no need to opt out of sale. To exercise any right, contact us at legal@layout.link. Where Layout processes data on an Integrator's behalf, we will direct your request to that Integrator where appropriate.

International Users

We process and store personal data using infrastructure located in the United States. If you access the Software from outside the United States, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate transfer mechanisms, including the Standard Contractual Clauses.

Age Requirement

The Software is intended for users who are at least 18 years old. Because Layout authorizes real purchases and payments, it is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected such data, we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. Continued use of the Software after an update becomes effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
